Auburn defensive end out after emergency appendectomy

AUBURN, Ala. (al.com) - The injuries continue to pile up for Auburn.

Sophomore defensive end Byron Cowart is out indefinitely after having his appendix removed, coach Gus Malzahn confirmed Wednesday afternoon. ESPN was the first to report on Cowart's injury.

"He did have an emergency appendectomy and it happened this morning," Malzahn said. "I don't know the status of how long he's out and all that, but it went well and he's recovering well."
