HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- The Madison movie theater project announced with much fanfare in spring 2015 is back on track after months of uncertainty.

The project’s developer has hired Fite Building Co. of Decatur and work is well under way.

That wasn’t always the case. The theater, known as CinePlanet 15, was originally slated to open last Christmas. But a dispute between the developer and the original contractor led to the work being stopped.

There are still a number of ongoing lawsuits involving the project, but WHNT News 19 visited the project site off Hughes Road in Madison and found work well underway.

Former Madison Mayor Troy Trulock announced on Facebook last week that the project was back on track.

Madison city officials said today the work resumed in the last few months.

Construction completion dates are always subject to change, but Trulock said the project appeared to be aiming for a May 2017 opening date, just in time for the summer movie season.
