HUNTSVILLE, Ala.- Alabama A&M head football coach James Spady called it a "character win."
On Saturday, the Bulldogs battled back from a 17-0 first half deficit to finish SWAC play with a 27-20 win over Jackson State. With the win, the Bulldogs finished conference play with a 4-5 record, winning three of their last four games.
"I don't think I'm being over dramatic when I say you may have witnessed the birth of a championship football team," said Spady. "We're going to build on that as we go forward. I've gotta tell you a lot of good football teams don't do what we did Saturday night.
A&M dominated on the ground against Jackson State. Quarterback De'Angelo Ballard led all rushers with 155 yards on 22 carries while Guntersville native Jordan Bentley carried the ball 20 times for 106 yards. Ballard threw for another 143 yards and one touchdown.
The Bulldogs wrap up the 2016 season with a trip to Auburn on Saturday. Kickoff at Jordan-Hare Stadium is set for 6:30 p.m.
