Shoppers already getting a jump on holiday sales four days after Halloween

HUNTSVILLE, Ala.--  It still barely feels like fall, and we're only four days past Halloween, but the holiday shopping season is already in full swing.

Parkway Place Mall can't wait any longer for Santa to come to town.

"It is November third but as you can see we are getting our santa set ready already," said marketing director Molly Bell.

Bell said the mall has already seen an uptick in sales and holiday shoppers.

"We've already got people that are coming in for those holiday gifts and the sales have already started for those Black Friday shoppers and Thanksgiving and Christmas," she said.

Randolph School is also hosting their Under the Christmas Tree holiday shopping extravaganza this weekend at the VBC. One shopper doesn't see anything wrong with getting a head start.

"I think it's great to get started early because you may miss out on things, sometimes there's really good sales, and that way you have everything done. I like knowing everything's out-of-the-way so I don't have to be stressed right around the holidays," said Lorie Dawson.

Early bird sales and opportunities are the key to a happy holiday season for Dawson and her family.

"That's why we came, because it's kind of nice I've already gotten a bunch of my shopping out-of-the-way so I don't have to worry about it later on," she said.

Halloween may have just happened, but we'll be saying Merry Christmas before you know it.

Another holiday shopping opportunity is coming up this weekend. Under the Christmas Tree will be Saturday and Sunday at the VBC. The market, with more than a hundred vendors, is a fundraiser for Randolph School. Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors, and children are free.
