Polaris Industries holds grand opening, Governor Bentley speaks at ceremony

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. -- Governor Robert Bentley joined Polaris executives, as well as state and local leaders, for the Polaris Industries grand opening ceremony and ribbon cutting in Huntsville on Tuesday morning.

The governor announced in January 2015 that Polaris Industries chose Alabama to build a plant for the production of  off-road vehicles. The Polaris Huntsville Center of Manufacturing Excellence is 910,000 square feet with the capacity for 1,700 employees, opening hundreds of positions for technicians, programmers, and welders. The new plant is located at 7049 Greenbrier Parkway N.W. in Madison.

CEO of Polaris Industries, Scott Wine, said in a speech during the ceremony that he expects this Alabama plant to to be extremely successful, performing up to two times faster than any other plant. "High quality products will be manufactured here," Wine said.

Governor Bentley said that north Alabama is the "premier area to develop Polaris products."

The grand opening ceremony took place at 10:00 a.m.
