Alabama mother pleads for help finding teen daughter missing 10 months
LUVERNE, Ala. – According to our news partners at AL.com , Vickie Metcalf is pleading for help in the search for her missing teenage daughter, 18-year-old Myra Alissia Freeman.
In a recent Facebook post she wrote, “It has come to my attention that some people may not be taking her disappearance seriously. There is a rumor going around that she is just hiding with her boyfriend, however the investigators on her case do not believe there is any truth to that rumor. So, please understand that not all rumors are true, and I believe our local investigators are doing everything they can.”
Freeman was last seen leaving her home in Crenshaw County Highland Home around 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, Dec 13, 2015, wearing a crimson colored Alabama shirt, blue jeans and a pair of black and white converse tennis shoes. She told her family she was taking out the garbage from her room, but she never returned home.
She is described to have blue eyes, brown hair, 5-foot-1-inch tall and weighs about 121 pounds.
Crenshaw County sheriff Micky Powell previously told our news partners AL.com that a woman reported seeing Freeman on Highway 331 on the evening of Dec. 13, he said the teenager’s parents reported her missing within a couple of hours of her disappearance.
At the time, Freeman was classified as a runaway and was believed to have left home to meet up with someone she met online.
Metcalf said law enforcement has received numerous reports that Freeman is being trafficked. She may have been spotted in Atlanta and Nashville.
“This is a very serious situation and she needs your help,” she wrote. “I know that it can seem like you aren’t doing much by just sharing her flyer but you are.”
The Federal Bureau of Investigation is offering a $10,000 reward for information that leads to Freeman. The reward grew to $13,500 thanks to other local donors.
Anyone with information on Freeman’s whereabouts is asked to contact the Crenshaw County Sheriff’s Office at 334-334-2445, and/or FBI Mobile Divison, Montgomery Resident Agency at 334-263-1691.
