MERIDIANVILLE, Ala. – Madison County Sheriff’s Office deputies are investigating a clown sighting near Meridianville Middle School, Captain Michael Salomonsky said Wednesday.

He said it was reported Tuesday morning before 10 AM. Investigators believe there were several people wearing clown masks, driving by the school in a car. He said it scared children who were outside for PE class, and prompted an investigation.

Capt. Salomonsky said it is unclear whether or not the masked people were doing anything that rises to the criminal level. That’s what they’re looking into today, he explained. This was the only clown incident they had heard of as of Wednesday afternoon in the area.
