DECATUR, Ala. - The Claire Lynch Band, with guest artists Microwave Dave and the Nukes, will be in concert on Thursday, November 3, at Decatur`s Princess Theatre. Proceeds will benefit the Microwave Dave Music Education Foundation.
Claire Lynch, who grew up in Huntsville and is a Grissom High graduate, has long been recognized as a creative force in acoustic music and is counted as one of the leading women who have expanded the bluegrass genre. She has now earned The International Bluegrass Music Association`s 'Female Vocalist of the Year' title three times, as well as two GRAMMY nominations.
The Princess Theatre is a premier performing arts venue in Decatur, Alabama. The art deco-style building was originally built in 1887 as a livery stable. In 1919, the building was transformed into a silent film and vaudeville playhouse. Outside the doors, the floor is paved with terrazzo in a map of Alabama that marks the Tennessee River and City of Decatur. The building is listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage.
