HUNTSVILLE, Ala.-- For many of us, the cold front coming in is the first time this fall we've pulled out the cold weather clothing. And the timing couldn't be better for those in need of some jackets and coats. The Monrovia Church of Christ is holding its annual closet ministry Saturday morning.
Linda Goode with the Monrovia Church of Christ said they have received more jackets and coats for their closet ministry this year than they ever have before.
"Since the cold snap is coming in this weekend it's kind of perfect timing to remind folks that we need to be thinking about some warmer clothes, some jackets," she said.
Goode said that even though we might be welcoming the cooler weather, some people don't have that luxury.
"For a lot of people it's a burden, because they don't have a coat in their closet, and they don't have pants for their children to wear to school, so we just want to help the community with that burden," she said.
She said all of the clothing is gently used, and completely free.
"In the morning we will be opening our doors here at Monrovia Church of Christ and we invite all the community to come by, we have clothing for men, women, children."
Goode said thanks to the response and generosity of the community, they hope to be able to clothe lots of people this year.
"We also have brand new underwear and socks that our church members have donated, and we're just opening our doors here tomorrow from ten to one and we'd just love for anybody with a need to come by," she said.
Good said they will also have church members manning the grill, and invite anyone who stops by to also eat lunch with them.
