Arrested for damaging ST Luke Baptist Church

HUNTSVILLE, Ala – Officers arrested David Thompson, 33, after entering a church with a bat and damaging several items.

Authorities responded to St. Luke Baptist Church around 8 a.m. October 18 for a call about a man in the building with a bat. Witnesses say Thompson walked in to the church while parents dropped their children off for daycare. The suspect took off on foot before officers arrived.

Several items, including a window, were broken in the church.

Tuesday, officers responded to a call of a suspicious person in the area of Jordan Lane and Mastin Lake Road. The suspect matched the description of Thompson. When officers arrived, Thompson ran on foot. After a short time Thompson was located and taken into custody.

Thompson is charged with terrorist threat, burglary, and criminal mischief.
