Jackson County Chamber of Commerce develops new five year plan

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. -  With big name corporations like Google putting Jackson County on the map, the community is looking for ways to grow and improve.  The county hired a consultant to find what the area needed most.  The Chamber of Commerce is focusing on bringing in more business and providing more jobs.

"If we can grow all of that and make sure everyone has a good education -- living in a great place. We got that. We got the mountains. We got the lakes.  People want to live here but they got to have jobs to come here and want to live here," said Rick Roden, president of the Chamber.

Officials are looking at ways to promote business growth in the county and bring in younger professionals.

"We are going to be marketing Jackson County as a database corridor between Chattanooga and Huntsville. It's a great opportunity," said Roden.  "We find out that things that follow Google are other data centers. So we're going to be promoting that and recruiting other data centers because those are great jobs."

Right now the Chamber is developing a case statement to recruit investors.  They need other businesses and leaders to invest financially, but also their time to help make these improvements.

"These are exciting times for Jackson County. We've been waiting a long, long time to see Jackson County be able to literally explode," he added.
