The United Way is getting ready to read with Jumpstart Read for the Record

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. - The United Way of Madison County does a lot of things, like collecting donations which support various local organizations.
However, that's not all the united way does.

Who doesn`t love a story?

For the 8th year, the United Way is promoting a very special event, Jumpstart Read for the Record 2016 on October 27, from 8:30 - 11:30 a.m.

It`s part of the significant year-round investment the United Way makes in education.

The United Way is working to bring together the public library, public and private schools and preschools, local museums, and businesses with a BIG message - young children are our future, they are important, and they need us to be there for them - AND it starts with literacy!

The United Way is inviting the community to join them in a national record-breaking event. The goal is for over 2,000 children to hear the same story on the same day and be inspired to become readers and life-long learners.

It ties back to the work that United Way and its partners do all year long - helping people reach their potential.

In coming weeks, the United Way will be assigning readers to public school classrooms, preschools, public reading sites.

Our local Mayors and County Commission are declaring it 'JUMPSTART READ FOR THE RECORD DAY' in Madison County. Everyone`s on board and they want YOU too!

Register today to show your interest in reading or in helping with the prep on the Volunteer Center of Madison County.
