Tuesday’s radar network outage made the imagery do odd things triggering unnecessary notifications

You may have received an alert on Live Alert 19 due to “precipitation near your area” this morning.  As hopeful as that might have been, it was due to a radar network problem.

From our data provider (WSI):

“Due to recent technical issues, NEXRAD Level II data for the CONUS
and Canada is currently unavailable, causing issues with current
radar imagery.

The NWS is aware of this outage and engineers are working to
correct this issue.”

The problem was corrected quickly:

“The earlier issues with the NEXRAD Level II data for the CONUS and
Canada have been fixed at the NWS, and radar data is no longer
degraded.
