Hanceville man killed in crash on I-65; vehicle flips off Tennessee River bridge

MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. – We have an update on the four-vehicle crash on Interstate 65 that claimed the life of a Hanceville man on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say 21-year-old John Connor Strickland died when the Ford Ranger he was driving struck a Volvo stopped in traffic. Strickland’s vehicle went airborne before continuing off the Tennessee River bridge. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volvo was not injured. Two other vehicles were involved in the crash. The drivers of those vehicles were not injured.

The crash happened on Interstate 65 just three miles north of Decatur. Alabama State Troopers are investigating.
