UPDATE: 2 now dead after conclusion of Killen standoff, no police injured

KILLEN, Ala. -- A man and woman have died following the conclusion of a standoff at a Killen motel Friday.

Just before 2 p.m. Friday, police said the situation at the standoff deteriorated. Police entered the room, where Eddie Collins and Venita Keen were barricaded. Shots were fired and both were hit.

Police tell us Collins and Keen died about an hour later.

No officers were injured during the standoff.

The standoff situation started Thursday morning at the Super 8 in Killen, when the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Office and U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve warrants. At least one shot was fired through the motel room door.

Collins had felony arrest warrants out of Lee County, Florida.
