LAUDERDALE CO. SHERIFF: Man found is not Robert Childers

LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. — Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton reported on Friday that a man found in the woods near his home on County Road 141 was Robert Childers, who has been missing since September 19, 2016, almost three weeks ago. Sheriff Singleton has just rescinded that statement, and said that the man they found is not Robert Shawn Childers.

A┬áresident spotted a man and a mounted posse located him in the woods near his home– The Sheriff’s investigators believed it was him because he was found in expected area.

The man who IS NOT Childers is being transported to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital for evaluation and treatment. Sheriff Singleton said this man was found barefooted, but in good condition.
