The month of October has become the pink and purple month. Pink in honor of breast cancer awareness and purple to remind us this is domestic violence awareness month.

Alabama leaders want to take the opportunity to remind everyone that free, professional help is available for victims of domestic violence, across the state.

There are 24-hour crisis hotlines, such as Crisis Services of North Alabama in Huntsville, emergency shelters, counseling, court advocates and more.

You can contact Crisis Services through their website at or they are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at their Help Line by calling 256-716-1000 or 1-800-691-8426

The Alabama Coalition Against Domestic Violence is also a great resource to find help. It’s website includes a list of shelters that can be found here or by calling 1-800-650-6522.
