Five inmates injured during altercation at St. Clair Correctional Facility; Prison placed on lock-down

SPRINGVILLE, Ala. – Alabama Department of Corrections officials report an incident occurring at the St. Clair Correctional Facility in Springville that left inmates injured on Sunday.

Authorities say a fight broke out among a group of inmates at approximately 6 p.m. inside an inmate dorm.

Five inmates injured in the altercation were taken to an offsite medical facility. The extent of their injuries is unknown at this time.

No corrections officers were injured.

Prison officials placed the facility on lockdown pending an investigation into the cause of the incident.
