HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - "The Oasis" is promoted as a future destination that's sure to amaze, with a "luxury" hotel and "exciting" food. Leasing agents at Crunkleton Commercial Real Estate Group call it a future "epicenter" for arts and relaxation.
The Oasis promises a conference center, hotel, medical and arts complex, and spa. But there's no set completion date yet. It's a project in the Swancott Road area of Huntsville-annexed Limestone County that Crunkleton writers say is still in development (shortly after WHNT posted this story, the Crunkleton post was removed from the company's website.) WHNT News 19 has not learned, despite asking, how far along the project is or whether any tenants are currently signed on.
The Crunkleton group posted links to this video below, first posted almost a year ago. This video is now being viewed by the thousands. For us, this begs the question, "Why put this back out there, now?" We have not yet been given that answer.
WHNT News 19 contacted those we believe to be the developers of The Oasis, but have not yet received a call back. We also contacted The Strada Group about the project, and haven't heard back.
Limestone County Commissioners said they haven't been approached about the project, and over in Huntsville leaders said they can't discuss details. We have learned that Huntsville leaders are aware of the project, but so far the city is not involved. No public funds have been spent on any part of The Oasis project, because it hasn't come before the city council for a vote.
Crunkleton representatives told us the land for the site has been sold to the developers.
While it remains to be seen whether plans for the project will come to fruition, the site is promised to be full of possibilities. Crunkleton appears to be recruiting potential tenants for the site. Writers say in the company's blog: "Potential tenants are welcome to call 256-536-8809 and speak with the lead leasing agent, Richard Crunkleton or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org about potential leasing opportunities."
