A woman is killed in a single-vehicle car crash in Lauderdale County

LAUDERDALE COUNTY – Alabama State Troopers are investigating a fatal single-vehicle crash that claimed the life of a Waterloo woman.

Troopers say that crash happened Saturday, around 3:45 a.m. on Lauderdale County 3, five minutes north of Waterloo. 20-year-old Megan Renee Smith was killed when the 2002 FordF150 left the roadway in a curve and struck a tree. Smith, the passenger, who was not wearing a seat belt was pronounced dead on the scene.

The driver of the vehicle was transported to ECM hospital in Florence.

This crash is still under investigation.
