Remember 2010? Super hot in September but cold enough for snow in December

It has been a very hot September here in the Tennessee Valley. In fact, Muscle Shoals broke a record high temperature on Friday when thermometers hit 99 degrees.

This is very similar to conditions from September 2010, when Huntsville reached 90+ degrees a total of 20 times that month.

But cooler air will eventually reach the Valley, and if December 2016 is similar to December 2010, we could experience as many as 10 days 40 degrees or below. On Christmas Day 2010, as much as 2.5 inches of snow officially fell in Huntsville.
