HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Hundreds of kids laced up their shoes Thursday to line up for the annual Autumn Chase Fun Run.
The event, presented by Huntsville Hospital and the Huntsville Track Club, promotes exercise and raises awareness and funds for childhood cancer. Kids run a 1-mile race at the Jaycee's Building off Airport Road.
September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and fun run participants support pediatric oncology efforts at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children.
"It's always been a great event," said Tom Perkins of Huntsville Hospital Sports Center. "We've been able to bring awareness to a subject that many people are aware of, but maybe just dismiss all too easy. When you start thinking about sick kids, it really starts hitting home."
Each fun run participant earned a t-shirt and ribbon and there were also medals for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place.
