LAUDERDALE COUNTY, Ala. - Two years ago this week, tragedy struck on Alabama 20, just a couple of miles from the Tennessee state line.

A 71-year-old woman was hit by a vehicle and died.  Authorities are still looking for the driver.

It was just after 8a.m. on September 24th of 2014 and Wilma Darlene Carles was heading to get her morning coffee.

Her daily quest took her across Alabama 20 in the Murphy Crossroads Community to D&R Hardware store. It was there she had her own seat and would talk for hours.

On this particular morning as she was walking across the road, she was struck by a vehicle. Carles died at the scene. The driver kept going.

State troopers said they have gotten several tips over the last two years, but not enough to make an arrest.

Investigators would like to give the family some resolution in this case by holding someone responsible. They believe someone watching this, knows the person who drove away.
