HARTSELLE, Ala. - Hartselle quarterback Trevor Oaks has spent a lot of time on the bench in his career, watching the action.
For the past three seasons, Jake Tiffin was the starter for the Tigers, but now Tiffin plays golf at Troy. So in his senior season, Oaks finally gets his chance under center - a chance he's taking full advantage of.
"Since January, I don't know that anyone has worked any harder to prepare for this moment," Hartselle head coach Bob Godsey said. "He's done everything possible to improve and get better and get ready for his turn - and you wanna see guys like that succeed - and all that hard work through the first five games has paid off."
The Tigers are a perfect 5-0 to start this season, the teams best start since it won a state championship in 2011. Oaks knows there is a lot of football left to play, but told WHNT News 19 Sports' Taylor Tannebaum he's confident in everything he has done to be ready for this opportunity.
"I knew I was gonna be building up for my senior year. Its been a crazy one, but I made sure to prepare myself for every moment and I feel like I put myself in the best situation I could've put myself in this year," he said.
