Huntsville International Airport holds full-scale disaster drill

HUNTSVILLE, AL-  There was plenty of commotion at the Huntsville International Airport on Thursday. Not to worry, it was a drill.

The training exercise involved police, fire, HEMSI and other emergency response agencies, as well as airport public safety and staff and even the news media.

The full-scale disaster drill simulated a passenger plane clipping a U.S. military helicopter.

It included smoke and fire and emergency vehicles with sirens.

The event started at 9 a.m. and lasted until around 1 p.m.
