The map above depicts the number of 100-degree days reported across the Lower-48 during the summer period (June 1 – August 31).

Each reporting station that had at least one day of 100-degrees or higher is represented with a dot.

The dots are interpolated (solid colors), giving an additional representation of the areas that experienced these extreme temperatures.

The thermometer at Huntsville International Airport, the official reporting site for Huntsville, only hit 100 degrees once (July 21) between June 1 and August 31.

Even without a single record high temperature in Huntsville, this has still been one of the hottest summers on record. This is because our overnight low temperatures remained above average nearly all summer.
