HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Dreams did come true - for many children today in the Rocket City. Disney On Ice performers hosted a coloring party for children at Huntsville Hospital for Women and Children.
"All the children know the big event like Disney coming to town and many are saddened because they are hospitalized and can't make the event," says Eugene Johnson, the child life coordinator. "To be in a moment of vulnerability where they are sick and they're not feeling well and to have Mickey visit is just truly amazing for these kids."
Kids were given Disney coloring books and Mickey ears while taking pictures with Mickey himself. Huntsville Hospital says they're grateful for organizations like Disney giving back to the community and adding a little magic to these kid's lives.
"This is the part of the job that I love the most. It's just so rewarding to see kids just brighten up when we come and visit and bring our characters and bring a little sunshine to their day," says Tommy Do, a Disney performer.
Mickey also personally visited rooms for children who weren't able to join the coloring party.
