A summer of speculation over the intriguing freshman quarterback ended with breakout performance unlike anything seen in Nick Saban's Alabama tenure.

That, with a smothering defensive night sent the No. 1 Crimson Tide past a flustered USC, 52-6. The defending national champions scored 38 straight after a rocky start in a familiar building.

The third AT&T Stadium win in the last 363 days saw the first true freshman quarterback appearance in Saban's 10 Alabama seasons. His 6-for-11 night included 118 passing yards and two long touchdown throws.
