MADISON, Ala. - The Bob Jones Band is now rolling in style when it travels to games and competitions. The Band Boosters surprised the students with a custom-wrapped, 48-foot semi-trailer.
The delivery happened Thursday afternoon during marching band practice.
The truck will be used to transport the band's instruments to and from all games and competitions.
The boosters also bought a smaller trailer for excess equipment.
Before this purchase, the band had to rent two trucks to transport equipment for each football game and competition it attended.
Assistant Band Director Kevin Smart knows the truck will make a statement when the band pulls up at a venue. "It's a great source of pride for the kids whenever you pull into a football game or a competition and you got this big band with your name on it," he says. "It's just kind of an icon of sorts when you pull in so they're extremely excited about it."
The band boosters group has paid for approximately half the cost of the trailer so far. It will now focus on soliciting donations to pay for the rest.
