LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. – Families are grieving over the loss of three young people who died in a two-vehicle collision Sunday night in Limestone County.

Families are asking for help to afford burial costs.  Gofundme accounts have been set up for the three victims:

  • Justin Lee Allred, 19, lived in Athens.  Here is the link to his Gofundme account.
  • Michael Swanner, 16, was riding in Allred’s car and also died.  This is his Gofundme account, or donations can be made to Ardmore Funeral Chapel.
  • Richie Sanchez-Hernandez, 11, was in sixth grade at Tanner School.  Here is his Gofundme account.

Alabama State Troopers say the two-vehicle wreck happened just before midnight Sunday, August 28 on Reid Road in Limestone County.

Investigators say the Chevrolet Impala Allred was driving collided head-on with a 2008 Chevrolet driven by an  unidentified driver. Troopers on the scene say Allred and his passenger Michael Swanner weren’t wearing seat belts. Both were taken to area hospitals where they later died.

Hernandez-Sanchez also died at the hospital.  The Hernandez family says Richie’s brother-in-law and his brother, Juan Carlos and Antonio, were injured in the crash. One has been discharged, the other is still receiving treatment at a hospital in Nashville.
