St. William Catholic Church’s Annual Seafood Festival, Sept. 2nd and 3rd

GUNTERSVILLE, Ala - Join St. William Catholic Church during its 46th Annual Seafood Festival on Friday, September 2nd and Saturday the 3rd at Civitan Park in Guntersville. Admission to the festival is free.

Seafood lovers should come from near and far to enjoy file` style gumbo prepared by loyal St. William parishioners. This year they will be preparing 510 gallons of gumbo, 300 lbs of crawfish, 1200 lbs of boiled shrimp, 280 chicken halves and catfish in sufficient numbers to feed the masses.

Friday night, purchase Cajun-style boiled shrimp and quart containers of frozen gumbo through the convenient drive-thru facility at the park from 4 to 6 pm.

On Saturday, patrons will be able to purchase meals in the park featuring barbeque chicken and catfish prepared on site by parishioners. Gumbo, shrimp and crawfish with the trimmings, including hushpuppies and slaw will also be available in the drive-thru. Drive-thru sales will begin at 7:30 am. Dine-in sales will begin at 10:30 am.

Sales will continue until the food is sold out, which in years past has occurred in mere hours. Come early and enjoy the food.

The Festival began in 1971 in order to help construct the current church building. However, over the years, the church has been able to give back to local charities. Some of the recipients are Marshall County Christmas Coalition, Room in the Inn (aka Marshall County Homeless Ministries) and two food pantries operated by the Society of St. Vincent DePaul; one located at St. William Church in Guntersville and one at the Chapel of the The Holy Cross in Albertville.
