Crossville daycare owner arrested after drug agents find meth inside daycare

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. - A Crossville daycare owner was arrested Thursday and charged with several drug charges after authorities said methamphetamine was found inside the daycare.

Leslie Bright, 40 of Crossville, the owner of Bright Beginnings Daycare, is charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

It started when the DeKalb County Drug and Major Crimes Unit, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office, and Crossville Police Department received anonymous tips from concerned citizens about drug activity at the daycare.

DeKalb County Sheriff Jimmy Harris said Bright cooperated with agents, giving them consent to search her vehicles and belongings. During the search, Harris said methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia were found inside the daycare.

Alabama Department of Human Resources Child Daycare workers were notified. Bright was arrested and charged with two counts of unlawful possession of controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. She is being held at the DeKalb County Detention Center awaiting bond.

Sheriff Harris said, “Our Task Force is doing a great job. They work hard investigating tips from concerned citizens. I encourage the citizens to continue to be watchful of their communities and to report any suspicious activity by calling our office or via our website at www.dekalbcountysheriff.org
