Teenage parents charged with capital murder in death of 19-day-old infant in Madison Co.

MADISON COUNTY, Ala. – The teenage parents of a 19-day-old infant have been charged with capital murder after their child died of suspicious injuries, Madison County Sheriff Blake Dorning said Monday.

Zackary Austin Harbin, 18, and Madison Lynn Eagan, 19, the infant’s parents, are charged with capital murder.

Dorning said it started on July 5, when deputies were called to Women’s and Children’s Hospital in Huntsville to investigate suspicious injuries of a 19-day old infant. He said the injuries consisted of suspicious bruising and possible head trauma.

Harbin and Eagan were arrested on domestic violence charges that day and the child was transported to Birmingham Children’s Hospital for treatment, Dorning said. The infant died as a result of its injuries on July 15.

Both Harbin and Eagan were charged on Monday are being held in jail with no bond.
