Thunderstorms are developing quickly in the Tennessee Valley Saturday, fueled by the hot and humid air in place over the region.
Though the storms are quickly pulsing up in intensity, they are not moving very fast — only about 5 to 10 miles per hour.
This slow movement will give areas under the storms locally heavy rains, which are badly needed this far into the summer.
With that in mind, the storms may produce frequent lightning; if you see lightning or hear thunder, head for shelter immediately.
