GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) - Wakeboarders of all ages showed off their skills on Lake Guntersville for the annual Spring2Summer Wakeboard Tournament on Saturday.

Wake Factory Co-Founder Shane Cook said wakeboarding is on the rise in North Alabama.

"I remember when I moved to Huntsville in '98, '99, there were one or two wakeboard boats that I knew of," Cook said. "Now, you can't go out on the river or lake without seeing 10. It has grown tremendously in the last few years."

The "Spring2Summer" tournament came to fruition nine years ago, bringing the love of the sport to the Tennessee River.

"We want to make it bigger and bigger every year," Cook said. "I just want to see everybody, especially the families and the kids, come out and enjoy themselves. Especially kids that are competing and learning to do something for the first time, that's always a fun thing. For them to do something in a contest that they normally wouldn't do, and land it, that's great."
