CULLMAN, Ala. – A single car crash injures one teen, and kills another. The crash happened around 10:45 p.m. on Cullman County 25, five miles west of Bremen.

17-year-old Whitney Renee Cotton of Cullman was killed when the 2005 Mitsubishi Galant, in which she was the passenger, left the roadway and struck a tree. Cotton was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene.

The vehicle’s driver, 17-year-old Anna McKenzie Hughes of Vinemont, was transported to an area hospital for treatment for her injuries.

The Vinemont eagles Youth Football posted a picture on Facebook, showing Whitney Cotton on the right.  She was a varsity cheerleader.  In this picture, she is with another friend, not Hughes.

ALEA is still investigating the cause of the accident.
