HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Downtown Huntsville is becoming a hub for entrepreneurs.

"We kind of have that work after work mindset in Huntsville- where they work all day long, but really they have a passion for app development or something else," says Ellery Miller with Downtown Huntsville Inc.

Huntsville has just what it takes to help new businesses thrive. "There are a lot of avenues for entrepreneurs and resources," said Miller. "The resources are there, I think it's just about getting the word out about them- increasing the ease of access."

Downtown Huntsville Inc. is asking for innovative ideas, to help make your downtown experience even better. "More concretely we're hoping for some improvements to the customer experience and shopping and eating and playing come out of this," said Miller.

And they're willing to pay. Downtown businesses have been asked to turn in their ideas.

"Signage is a big one, some of the other things are just adding technology or different facets to your building that make it a more enjoyable experience for the customer," said Miller.

And if theirs is chosen, they get $1,000 to implement towards the idea. "Just to make it more comfortable or more interesting- just something different that speaks to the patrons."

So it's a win-win for everyone.

The event is Thursday night from 5 until 9pm at U.G White in Downtown Huntsville.

It's open to anyone who wants to come- however, only those who signed up can participate for the change to win the $1,000 from Hightower Advisors.
