Some hope for rain Wednesday evening

A batch of heavy thunderstorms rolled through the Memphis area Wednesday afternoon dropping heavy rain, producing some gusty winds and hail, and creating some impressive sky scenes with a big shelf cloud ahead of the rain.

Those storms will weaken as they move away from a region of better instability, higher moisture, and upper-air support; however, that does not mean all of the rain dries up. Scattered showers move into The Shoals this evening and slowly drift eastward. Total rainfall looks to be under 0.10″ where it actually rains. Many of us will miss out on rain completely, but even those that do get some, it won’t add up to much.
