Soldier 1 Corporation co-founder speaks about paying forward the American Dream
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) – Born on the 4th of July during the Vietnam war, Lisa Williams believes she was truly meant to be an American. After her soldier father brought her from Vietnam to American in 1969, Lisa Williams has made the most of her opportunities in this country, becoming a successful entrepreneur. This week she stopped by WHNT News 19 to discuss how she is accomplishing the American Dream.
“Because of those sacrifices that my father and all of our soldiers have made, I truly believe that I need to make the best of this American dream that I’ve been given. And in doing so, I really want to be able to pay it forward and do anything I can to make our country the best.” says Williams.
There is a strong effort to help veterans in North Alabama. This region definitely understands how important it is to support those who served our country. Lisa Williams began the Soldier 1 Corporation with her husband, Alabama House Representative Phil Williams to “to help veteran entrepreneurs so as their business grows they can hire more veterans so they can grow businesses, but also help veterans be employed.”
Lisa Williams and her husband have co-founded several businesses together. “I think ever since graduation from college I’ve felt the need to do something for my country.” said Williams. “You know as parents in the United States we tell our kids, you can grow up to be anything you want to be. There are parents in other countries that cannot say that to their children. Because I live in this great country it has always been a passion of mine to do what I can to take that American dream and live it, and to see if I can be successful at it. Then I’ve made those sacrifices that others made, worth something.”
