Park service identifies man who drowned at Martha’s Falls in Little River Canyon National Preserve

DEKALB COUNTY, Ala. – A man drowned at Little River Canyon National Preserve over the weekend, the state park service confirmed.

Josh William Grunder, 39, drowned on Sunday after he jumped off of the cliff at Martha’s Falls, Chief Ranger Troy Muller told us.

It happened around 6 p.m. Sunday. Muller said Grunder jumped off the cliff, resurfaced, but went back under and didn’t come up.

Fischer Rescue Squad, Park Service, DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office responded among other agencies.

Martha’s Falls, formerly Little Falls, is a popular swimming area at Little River Canyon National Preserve.
