MORGAN COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) – Morgan County District Attorney Scott Anderson issued a warning Friday about an upcoming roundup. The warning applies to anyone with outstanding warrants for failure to pay court ordered monies or for issuing worthless checks.

“If you believe that you may have an outstanding warrant in either the Worthless Check Unit or the Restitution Recovery Unit, you need to contact these offices immediately to work out payment arrangements or to turn yourself in,” said Anderson. He says otherwise you may be arrested without further warning.

The District Attorney’s Office says it’s requesting help from local law enforcement agencies to execute scores of warrants.

Anderson says the District Attorney’s Office would rather have people pay their fines and court costs than go to jail, but at some point arrest becomes the only option.

The District Attorney’s Worthless Check Unit and Restitution Recovery Unit are located on the fifth floor of the Morgan County Courthouse. Call the units at (256) 351-4741. The office is open 8:30 am – 4:30 pm Monday-Friday.
