North Alabama high school coach charged with having relationship with student

LIMESTONE COUNTY, Ala. - The Limestone County Sheriff's Office says an employee of East Limestone High School was arrested on Friday.  He is accused of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with a 17-year-old female student.

Trey Alton Stinson, 24, of Harvest is charged with school employee engaging in a sex act with a student.  He was released from the Limestone County Jail on $5,000 bond.

The Sheriff's Office began to investigate the case when someone notified them of a possible inappropriate relationship.  Stinson has worked as an instruction assistant at East Limestone High School since the beginning of the 2015-16 school year. He was also an assistant football and softball coach at East Limestone, according to the school system.

The school system says Stinson is on paid administrative leave.
