TUSCUMBIA, Ala. - Tuscumbia Police held a news conference this morning to update on the investigation on a deadly shooting in Tuscumbia.

Police Chief Tony Logan says two people were shot at the Spring Creek Apartment Complex Tuesday night.

Officers responded to the call of multiple gunshots at the apartment complex.  They found one person slumped behind the steering wheel of a vehicle and another on the ground.  Logan says both were suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

Logan identified the victim who died as Kijana Freeman, 19. He only released that the injured person was a 17-year-old juvenile. Kijana is known as K-John.

Investigators believe the duo was meeting someone to purchase an X-box, based on text messages on the victims' phones.

Chief Logan has identified the weapon used in the shooting as a 7.62 mm assault-style rifle.

The juvenile victim is currently being treated at Huntsville Hospital. Logan says his condition has improved slightly.
