Driver rescued, Bible recovered from fiery crash on Memphis highway

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Emergency crews in Memphis, Tennessee responded to a car fire along Route 385 Sunday afternoon.

The accident happened on the eastbound side of 385 near Ridgeway Road and Kirby Parkway at about 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

A Jeep left the road and caught on fire, police said.

The driver was trapped in the car, but a Memphis Police officer was able to get the driver out before the car exploded, police said.

The driver was taken to Regional Medical Center in noncritical condition.

The car was destroyed, but a Bible was found on the passenger seat unharmed.
