Former Shoals pastor, secretary accused of using church funds for home repairs, vacations

FLORENCE, Ala. - A former pastor and church secretary in Florence have been indicted on charges of using church credit cards for personal use.

This week, a Lauderdale County grand jury indicted Christopher Barnett and Carolyn Ivy on charges of fraudulent use of a credit card.

Florence Police say between 2009 and 2014, Ivy and Barnett paid for home repairs, vacations, and other personal items with Lee Heights Baptist Church funds.

According to police, Barnett spent more than $125,000 over the four-year period.
