MUSCLE SHOALS, Ala. (WHNT) – It’s been almost one year since a man and woman were brutally gunned down outside a Muscle Shoals truck stop.

After dozens of interviews and countless tips from the public, there have still not been any arrests.

Standing behind a microphone Friday, Muscle Shoals Police Chief Robert Evans made a plea for the public’s help.

He’s pretty sure someone saw 25-year-old Gary Wayne Baskins and 23-year-old Kayla Ann Glover murdered outside Jody’s Restaurant on Jan. 24 of last year.

“We want to be able to give the family some closure, but more than anything we want to be able to bring the people that were responsible for this crime to justice,” stated Evans.

According to investigators, every tip has stopped cold.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found Baskins shot multiple times in the passenger’s seat of Glover’s car. She died just five feet from the front door, trying to get help.

Evans said investigators from across northwest Alabama have assisted in tracking down leads.

“Anytime you can bring a different perspective in to look at something it may bring out some different information or a theory that wasn’t there before,” Evans explained. “It just gives you another avenue to be able to follow and go down.”

With no statute of limitations, Evans said they will work this case as long as it takes to find whoever was involved.

Chief Evans said if you have any information on the case to contact Muscle Shoals Police or your local law enforcement agency.

Through Shoals Area Crime Stoppers, there is a cash reward available for information which leads to an arrest.
