HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT)- The season of giving has passed, but paying-it-forward is important year around. The Food Bank of North Alabama is always in need of donations during January.

Kathryn Strickland is the Executive Director of the Food Bank of North Alabama and she says, "We really need to rely upon neighbors helping neighbors."

Kroger Shopping Center and it's customers gave the Food Bank a generous donation at a needed time. In November, Kroger customers donated $20,000 during their 'Can Hungry' campaign. Kroger was able to buy 40,000 lbs. of food with the money collected. Erin Grant, the Kroger spokesperson, says, "Not only are we donating a truck load of much-needed product, but we are also making a donation for $9,000."

"On an annual basis, we are supplying 7.5 million pounds of food a year. We rely on partners like Kroger to make that happen," says Strickland.
