LAWRENCE COUNTY, Ala. (WHNT) -- WHNT News 19 received several Twitter, Facebook and emails following an altercation during the East Lawrence High School and Lawrence County High School basketball game.

Witnesses said fans were standing underneath the East Lawrence basketball hoop to distract players. Then, the opposing team did the same thing which caused tensions to escalate.

The attached video was sent to us by viewer, Clay Graham. You can see a large crowd gathered at the end of the basketball court. Chief Lyndon McWhorter of the Moulton Police Department says officers, along with the school's Principal, tried to control the crowds, encouraging fans to move aside. When one East Lawrence fan didn't, authorities tried to get him under control, which ultimately led to the authorities taking him to the ground and handcuffing him.

The man's identity is still unknown but he has been charged with disorderly conduct.
