FLORENCE, Ala. (WHNT) – A local restaurant is having some fun after an incident at the courthouse earlier this week.

On Wednesday, Florence police surrounded the federal courthouse because of two suspicious bags left outside. Officers brought in an x-ray machine and a robot to handle the situation, but when one of the bags ripped open, everyone learned it was just some hot dogs wrapped in foil inside the bags.

Police say they don’t know how the hot dogs ended up at the courthouse. But Wildwood Tavern is using the incident to thank the Florence Police Department.

The restaurant created the Bomb Squad Dog.

This weekend it’s free to members of the Florence Police Department. The special hot dog has house made chili, sliced jalapenos and wasabi mustard that is meant to resemble yellow police tape.
