Proposed park entrance fee postponed at Lake Guntersville State Park, no word yet on potential fees for other state parks
GUNTERSVILLE, Ala. (WHNT) — The Alabama State Park system will postpone the proposed park entrance fee at Lake Guntersville State Park.
Lake Guntersville State Park released a statement regarding the postponement Wednesday: “The staff here at Lake Guntersville State Park would like to say thank you to our patrons and the public for your continued support of our Alabama State Parks. Your voices do matter and they are not only communicated but are welcomed. The following statement has been made concerning our entrance fees at Lake Guntersville Park. We will continue to keep you updated as we receive news on this topic.
The State Park system has made a decision to postpone the implementation of the park entrance fee at Lake Guntersville State Park. While funding for the park system remains a great concern, we will focus our efforts over the next few months on a permanent and global solution to the annual budget transfers and revenue structure. We will reassess this situation this spring to make a final decision on this management strategy for 2016.”
There is no word on potential park fees for other state parks in the area or statewide.
